I am an individual homeowner in the Richmond Steveston area, and I am desperately looking for a kind and patient dog walker for my 6-year-old Chocolate Lab, Buster, starting next week.
I just got a new job downtown, which means my schedule is suddenly much tighter than it used to be, and I feel horrible leaving him alone for such long stretches; honestly, my previous walker moved to Vancouver Island last month, and I've been struggling to find a replacement who understands his specific needs.
Buster is a sweetheart, but he gets very anxious around loud noises like construction (which, let's be real, is everywhere in Richmond right now), so his walks need to be relatively quiet and focused on local parks and trails near the water where we can avoid the main traffic.
I’m flexible on the exact time window, but ideally, I need someone to come between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for a full 45-minute walk.
You’d be responsible for securing his harness (it’s a bit fiddly) and making sure he gets a small treat and fresh water when he returns.
My home is a quiet townhouse, and access is via a lockbox I can provide the code for once we confirm details; I’m happy to provide the leash, bags, and treats, but you should have a good pair of waterproof boots because the grass in the park is always wet and muddy this time of year, even when it’s not raining (typical Richmond weather!).
I am looking for someone who has genuine experience with anxious or reactive dogs and who can provide consistent, calm reassurance throughout the walk.
I am willing to pay a premium for someone reliable and experienced with a good track record, so the rate is negotiable depending on experience, but I’m looking for long-term recurring support because I don’t want to switch walkers again anytime soon, you know?
I mainly use this platform for messaging if you have any questions before applying. Really appreciate you considering Buster! You’d be a lifesaver!
