We are an established, small company specializing in exotic pet care,
and due to a recent family situation for one of our main sitters, we really need experienced backup for an avian client in the South Slope area of Burnaby.
This is a two-week assignment that requires one daily morning visit to a home to care for a pair of exotic parrots.
The tasks are highly specific due to the delicate nature of these birds.
The core tasks include:
Removing and cleaning the food and water dishes.
Preparing fresh chop (fruit/veggie mix provided) for their morning feeding.
Changing the cage bottom liner.
Ensuring the room temperature is stable.
We need someone who speaks very good English to be able to read and follow the detailed care manual we provide.
We would prefer someone who lives nearby, within 20-30 minutes, due to the need for consistent, early-morning timing.
We have a generous, but not unlimited, budget for someone with proven exotic bird experience.
Clean and disinfect the cage perimeter.
Engage with the birds for 15 minutes of quiet interaction.
Monitor and report any changes in droppings or feather condition.
Ensure the UV light is turned on and off at the correct times.
Record the temperature and humidity.
