Help Our Growing Catering Business with Lunch Prep
Message From The Owner
- We're a small business catering to downtown Ottawa offices, and we've just expanded our operations, which is exciting but means we are absolutely swamped with orders for grab-and-go lunches and need an extra pair of hands for light prep work.
- We are specifically looking for someone who can commit to about 15-20 hours a week, ideally split over Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from around 7:00 AM to noon, which is our busiest window for getting these catering boxes out the door.
- We operate out of a certified commercial kitchen space in an industrial area, and while parking is easy to find here, the space can get busy, so you need to be good at working with others without getting distracted.
- Your main tasks would include making large batches of salad dressings, prepping and washing greens and bulk vegetables for wraps, slicing meats for sandwiches, and assisting with packaging the cold components of our meal kits, ensuring every item meets our high standards for freshness and presentation.
- We will provide all the necessary ingredients, tools, and a very detailed prep sheet, but you should have some experience in a professional kitchen setting so you understand the flow of things; we don't have time for extensive training right now, unfortunately.
- I am available on short notice for an interview and I use transit myself but it's very reliable, so I understand if you need to rely on OC Transpo to get to the location.
- Wash and prep about 40 lbs of mixed greens per shift.
- Slice various deli meats using our commercial slicer (training provided).
- Label and portion 5-gallon batches of house-made vinaigrettes.
- Maintain cleanliness in your prep station throughout the morning.
