Organizing and Prepping at Our Ottawa Food Distribution Center

Our company operates a few large food distribution centres across Ottawa, and we constantly need reliable, detail-oriented help with the initial staging and prep of ingredients that get sent out to our various locations for final cooking.

This is a very professional, established environment with strict food safety standards, and we're looking for someone to help us for three full 8-hour days a week, Monday to Wednesday, doing things like receiving large deliveries, quality-checking produce, and organizing walk-in refrigeration units.

The work is physically demanding and requires a lot of standing and lifting boxes up to 30 lbs, but it's a critical part of our logistics, ensuring everything is accounted for before we send it down the line.

We need someone who can follow very structured procedures for inventory control and FIFO (First In, First Out) rotation, helping to reduce waste which is a big focus for us in our Ottawa operations.

You would be responsible for maintaining extremely clean and organized storage areas and also performing some basic prep, like peeling and dicing large volumes of root vegetables for soups, using the commercial equipment we have on site; we provide all the specialized safety gloves and uniforms.

Receive and verify delivery contents against purchase orders.

Peel and dice 50 lbs of potatoes and carrots weekly.

Organize and rotate inventory in three separate walk-in coolers.

Sanitize all work surfaces and tools at the end of each shift.

We can negotiate on the price based on your experience and willingness to commit to a long-term contract, which will include paid holidays.
