- I'm an individual who makes small-batch artisanal jams and preserves for local farmers' markets here in Ottawa.
- The summer berry season is absolutely crazy, leaving me totally overwhelmed with the sheer volume of fruit that needs processing, which is why I need help right away.
- I need someone to come to my home kitchen (a large, detached house in the suburbs) for at least three full days this week and likely recurring days throughout the summer.
- Focusing on the highly repetitive but critical tasks of washing, hulling, and de-stemming massive quantities of strawberries and raspberries.
- It’s tedious work, not gonna lie, but it’s essential for the quality of my finished product, and I need someone with patience and attention to detail.
- You’d be working in a clean, air-conditioned space, but you need to be comfortable handling large bins of fruit and standing for long periods, maybe 6-8 hours a day.
- Since it is summer, the humidity outside can make it feel sticky, so dress light!
- I am really looking for someone who can start ASAP because the fruit needs to be processed quickly after picking.
- I have a car and can travel 15-20 miles to drop off and pick up the prepped fruit if that helps with your transportation needs, but I’d prefer you work at my place.
- Price is negotiable depending on experience and the speed at which you can process the fruit.
