- We are a small, but rapidly growing local bakery business in Ottawa specializing in gluten-free and vegan treats, and we are getting completely overwhelmed with the volume of holiday orders, so we desperately need an experienced prep cook to help us catch up.
- This job is for about 25 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 2 PM, in our commercial kitchen space located in the east end of the city, and we are specifically looking for help with tasks that include precise measuring of specialty flours, making large batches of pie crusts and cookie doughs, and peeling and slicing a lot of apples for our signature pies.
- You don't need a car for this task as the kitchen is easily accessible by major transit routes, but the buses in Ottawa can be slow when the snow hits, so plan accordingly.
- We are really serious about finding a reliable person who can keep up with the fast pace and maintain meticulous accuracy, which is non-negotiable since one small error with gluten-free baking can ruin an entire batch, and it would be great if you're not more than 40 minutes away.
- This task is perfect for new immigrants in Ottawa who have baking experience, as we value skill and a good work ethic over perfect English, so language skills not a barrier here at all, though strong communication is still needed for procedural stuff.
