Message From The Owner
- We run a small family meal subscription service that delivers healthy, home-cooked dinners to busy families across the Ottawa area, and we are looking to hire a dedicated and reliable prep assistant to help us with our busy Sunday afternoon production window.
- This is a very structured task requiring 5-6 hours of work every Sunday, starting around 1 PM, focusing on things like precise vegetable cutting (dicing, julienning, mincing), portioning spices into individual meal kits, and blanching and freezing certain greens, and all work must be done according to our very specific recipe and prep guidelines.
- We work out of a licensed home kitchen in a suburban area, and while it's a nice, large kitchen, plan to arrive early as parking is difficult to find right on the street—it’s Ottawa after all!
- You must be legally allowed to work in Canada for this task, as we are a registered small business that adheres to all employment regulations, and we are looking for someone who takes food hygiene and cross-contamination very seriously, especially given the range of allergies we have to accommodate.
- Having your own car is a plus for reliability, though not strictly required, and we will provide all the necessary professional-grade knives and other tools needed to complete the prep tasks efficiently and safely, but you should have previous experience in a high-volume setting.
- We prefer candidates with their own transportation, as the area can be a bit tricky to get to via public transit on the weekends.
