We're a small, growing catering company that just expanded our operations, and we are quickly becoming overwhelmed with the sheer volume of ingredients and non-food supplies we need to bring in every week; our staff is too busy with food prep, so we need a dedicated person for weekly supply pickups in Ottawa East.
* You must be able to lift up to 50 lbs comfortably.
* You will use our company purchasing card (we will train you on the process).
We're looking for someone reliable who can commit to two fixed afternoons a week, like Tuesdays and Fridays, between 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM, for about 2-3 hours each time.
The job involves going to a specialty packaging store, a restaurant supply warehouse, and occasionally a bulk food retailer, all located within a five-kilometer radius of our commercial kitchen.
This role requires a lot of heavy lifting since you'll be dealing with boxes of containers, large bags of flour, and maybe some new, bulky kitchen gadgets, which is why we really need an extra set of hands.
I prefer to communicate via email for all the scheduling details and specific shopping lists for the week, as our kitchen gets super loud and phones are hard to hear, and we are willing to negotiate on price for the right person with the proper equipment.
The pickup spots usually have decent loading zones, but one of the stores is right in an area where the traffic can get really bad during the rush hour, which is a common Ottawa thing to deal with, so we need someone who is good at managing time.
